About Me

I was born in Mexico City and lived there until I was 9 years old. From 9 until 20 I lived in Houston Texas. It was in my time in Texas that I came to the field of speech-language pathology. I was blessed with a brother in 1992 who was later diagnosed with Autism. As a significantly older sister, I often took my little brother Danny to a variety of therapies (speech, OT, sensory, etc.).

In 2001 I moved to Tampa, Florida, where I completed my undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of South Florida (Go Bulls). I did my Clinical Fellowship Year at the ACE Charter school in Lakeland, Florida. The entire school was for children with a primary diagnosis of speech-language impairments. At the same time I served clients in a private practice clinic, Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center. I served as an outpatient SLP at All Children's Hospital in Brandon, FL and later was a school based SLP at Mill Creek Elementary in Osceola, FL. Since 2011 I have been working for DC Public Schools at the Early Stages Center where I do testing and placement for special education services for children 2 years, 6 months to 5 years of age. Last year, I also worked for Strong Start, DC's Early Intervention program, where I completed multidisciplinary assessments and gave Early Intervention therapy using the coaching model.

As you can see, I have been serving monolingual and bilingual children and families with communication delays/disorders since 2006. I've been fortunate enough to work in the school system, hospital and in private practice.  I have my Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and am licensed by the DOH in Washington DC and Virginia.

After 15 years as an SLP, I decided to take my passion for helping families in a new direction and Bilingual SLP LLC was created. I am blessed to truly love what I do. I am passionate about dual language learning, creating fun speech therapy materials, presenting for parents or professionals and diagnostics. I hope to be able to support you and your family in whatever capacity.   Here are some of my skills:
