Bilingual Beginnings

Board Books that Celebrate Culture

These stories honor icons like Selena, traditions like loteria, and places like Los Angeles while nurturing bilingual learners with pride and connection

el chavo cover.png

As someone who grew up watching El Chavo, this book feels especially nostalgic and brings back so many childhood memories while sharing a beloved classic with a new generation.

Where Is? ¿Dónde Está El Chavo? is a fun bilingual board book that helps little ones learn location concepts in English and Spanish through an engaging hide-and-seek activity.

loteria cover.png

I grew up playing Lotería with my family. This book brings back so many nostalgic memories, like using beans as markers on the cards while everyone gathered around the table.

Lotería: First Words / Primeras Palabras is an excellent way to introduce little learners to basic vocabulary words in both English and Spanish through the familiar images and cultural traditions of this beloved classic game.

de colores cover.png

Just reading the title De Colores instantly gets the iconic song stuck in my head and brings back so many childhood memories of singing along with mariachis at restaurants and celebrations.

This beautiful bilingual book helps teach colors n English and Spanish through vibrant illustrations and the joy of music. Whether you read it or sing it together, De Colores is a must have.

selena cover.png

As a child who grew up in Texas, Selena by Lil’ Libros hits close to home and brings back memories of how beloved and iconic Selena was in our culture.

This bilingual book introduces little learners to the Queen of Tejano music while teaching vocabulary related to clothing, style, and self-expression in English and Spanish.

Essential Games

Toddler & Preschool Therapy Favorites

little people farm.jfif

A farm set is one of the most versatile therapy tools an SLP can own. Children practice vocabulary, action words, animal sounds, requesting, commenting, turn-taking, sequencing, and pretend play all in a highly engaging context. They’re also ideal for  following directions.  Whether you work with toddlers, preschoolers, or early elementary students, a good farm set can be used across countless goals and therapy sessions!

little people bus.jfif

A school bus is a great addition to any SLP room because it naturally supports early language concepts like actions, prepositions, routines, and WH-questions through play. The figurines are easy for little hands to manipulate and keep in place, making them especially helpful for young learners. The bus fits all Little People figurines, making this very versetile.

noahs ark.jfif

Religion aside, I love using this Noah's Ark in therapy. It is an engaging way to introduce animal vocabulary, matching, plurals and early concepts. Kids are drawn to the "big boat" (as I call it) and are always engaged with this in play based therapy sessions.

cars and trucks.jfif

This set ie fantastic for targeting transportation vocabulary, action words, and prepositions during play-based therapy. Kids love putting the figurines in and out of the vehicles and moving them around. I especially like doing races across the floor to "see who is the fastest". It has endless opportunities to model language like go, stop, in, out, etc.

Articulation, Language & Social Skills

guess who cover.jfif

Guess Who? is one of my favorite games for targeting speech and language goals like describing, asking/answering questions, vocabulary, categories and attributes.

I also love pairing it with themed picture cards and visuals from my Teachers Pay Teachers store to customize the game to target different vocabulary!

dont break ice cover.jfif

Don’t Break the Ice is a staple in my therapy room and works for almost any speech-language goal! I especially love it for articulation practice. I tape target words to the back of each ice cube so students practice their sounds every time they add or tap out a piece. It keeps drill work hands-on, motivating, and fun!

ants in pants game.jfif

Ants in the Pants is one of my favorite motivator games for activities that need lots of practice and repetition! I pair it with card decks or speech targets. Students complete the task on the card, then earn a turn flinging an ant into the pants. It’s simple, fast-paced, and keeps kids engaged through high numbers of trials!

pop up dinosaur.png

Perfect for dinosaur lovers, this pop-up dinosaur game makes high-repetition speech practice exciting. Students work on their target sounds while waiting to see when the dinosaur will pop out!

Love this type of game? Me too! Check out more of my favorite pop-up and surprise games in my Amazon Storefront.

Oral Motor & Feeding

This ezpz tongue depressor is a game changer. It is weighted, temperature adaptable, and made of soft silicone.

chewy tubes.jfif

Chewy Tubes are a great option for kiddos who seek extra oral sensory input and are constantly mouthing toys, clothing, or other objects. They provide a safe, durable, and satisfying way to redirect chewing behaviors while supporting oral sensory regulation and self-soothing needs.

These ezpz food cutters make food prep so much easier for parents and caregivers starting solids. They are thoughtfully designed to create strips that support palmar grasp and cubes that promote pincer grasp development. Help your little one build self-feeding and fine motor skills in a safe, developmentally appropriate way!

6-9 months

placemat.jfif

The ezpz Tiny Mat was always a staple in my diaper bag because it creates a clean, reusable surface anywhere you go. Perfect for restaurants, travel, or babies and toddlers who think tables are part of the menu.

Drinking Essentials

Having trouble transitioning away from the bedtime or

milk bottle?

This sippy cup is one of my go-to recommendations for families working on the transition from bottle to cup. The soft, familiar nipple shape can feel more comfortable for children who have had prolonged bottle use, often making the transition easier than switching directly to a hard spout or straw cup. Compared to continued bottle use, the smaller, softer nipple may also be less likely to contribute to an open bite.

The ezpz Tiny Cup is one of my favorite tools for introducing open cup drinking because of it’s thoughtful design.

The weighted base helps reduce spills, the tiny size is perfect for small hands, and the soft, flexible silicone allows caregivers to gently control the flow of liquid while babies learn safe drinking.

The ezpz Mini Cup + Straw Training System is one of my favorite cups for teaching straw and open cup drinking because every detail is thoughtfully designed. The weighted base adds stability, the lid and short straw make sipping easier and safer, and the sensory bumps on the straw provide extra oral sensory input while supporting lip rounding, oral motor development, and independent drinking skills.

The Happy Cup by ezpz is one of my favorite options for older toddlers who are continuing to build independent drinking skills. The weighted base and lid help reduce spills, while the slighly longer straw with sensory bumps encourages proper lip placement, lip rounding, and straw drinking.
